Welcome to Souvenir Press
Souvenir Press started in 1951 in the bedroom of my parents’ flat and here we are in 2013 still as independent as when we first saw the light of day.
Our lists have always been a hugely eclectic mixture of bestsellers and books intended for more limited audiences. Along the way of our six decades we have introduced Rock and Roll publishing to Britain in 1959 (BookCollector) kept in print for our over forty years two of the greatest writers of the 20th Century, have extended the boundaries of sex education, had a definitive bestseller that still defines the 60s, “saved Scottish literature” – (according to Hugh MacDiarmid), published most of the leaders of the Humanistic School of Psychology and pioneering books on Feminism and Dyslexia, as well as the biography of the King of Farters and initiated Human Horizons series of some 60 books providing accessible help for the disabled which The Nursing Mirror found “did much to improve services in hospitals and the community”.
Fun is crucial to an independent publisher’s longevity so every new list must provide surprises for the reader. We invite you to click here to see what surprises you will find amongst books you probably thought someone else published but they hadn’t!
We continue to believe that the aim of an independent publisher is to publish books on minority interest subjects whose time may not yet have come but challenge received wisdom, which we hope you also find amongst the new and forthcoming titles for this year.
Thank you for joining us on our journey.
